Submitted by Desiree Winterbottom, SLP, Smithville, NJ One day during one of my articulation sessions at an elementary school, "Billy" (name changed) brought his friend Paul along. During the session, we were talking about tongue placement and referred to the roof of our mouth. I shared with Paul where the roof of his mouth was. He became quiet and after a few seconds of deep thought, he broke into a big smile as if a light bulb had suddenly appeared over his head as he exclaimed, "Oh!! The roof of your mouth is so your teeth won't get wet when it rains!" To this day, I can't help but smile whenever I talk about the roof of my mouth. :-)
